Easter 2009

We had a great Easter this year.  Keilah still doesn't comprehend the Easter Bunny, but we had fun letting her run around picking up "etts" (eggs) and eating jelly beans.  In fact, the first plastic egg Keilah opened up had jelly beans in it (not all of them did...I didn't want to spoil breakfast!) and she would eat a jelly bean and then pick up other eggs with her other hand.  She reallllllllly likes candy I guess :).  We then got all messy dyeing Easter eggs.  Keilah's learning her colors so we had a fun, educational time showing her all the different colors an egg could become.

I made my first turkey ever.  I was scared because you hear so many horror stories during holidays about people ruining turkeys, but it turned out moist, juicy, and very flavorful.  Needless to say, I'll be eating turkey for months!  We sort of rushed through our Easter dinner because our ward was at 3:00 yesterday (yeah, it was annoying!).  I had been up basically since 5 AM because I'm at the point now where sleeping is a luxury of pregnancy (stupid hips!).  We didn't stay the entire time at church because I was feeling really icky so we came home, vegged and ate our yummy lemonade cheesecake for dessert (yes, it's fat free!).

Although Easter wasn't the tradition it was growing up, I still had a lot of thoughts about the season and especially The Atonement.  I am so blessed to have a knowledge that I can return to live with my family forever with our Heavenly Father all because Jesus Christ suffered and died for me.   There have been many instances lately that have made me think about The Atonement differently than I have before.  It is an absolute necessity that we keep our covenants and work towards repentance on a daily basis so that we can receive the blessings our Father wants to give us.  We are so blessed to have the knowledge of the Gospel and to have continued revelation.  I am especially grateful to know about the true meaning of Easter and can celebrate with gratitude and humility :).  I hope you all had a super weekend and that you were touched by the meaning of Easter as well.

I'm glad you had a good Easter and that your turkey was good. I'm sorry that you aren't feeling well...that last month or so of pregnancy is the pits.

She looks darling in that little yellow dress! I'm glad she left the hat on long enough for a pic though :)
