We took a little drive (4 hours) and went to San Antonio. We took Keilah to Sea World on Friday. It was Halloween-themed like most parks now, but you still got the classic fish shows. Shamu was awesome. The show had 3 whales that did all sorts of sweet tricks like 360s and throwing trainers up in the air. Keilah loved the huge aquarium with sting rays, tropical fish, and sharks. Nate loved the roller coasters. The park wasn't very busy so Nate got to go on the ride 4 or 5 times in a row. I sat and ate yogurt with Keilah.
The next day we did downtown SA. We went to the Alamo (yes, we "remembered" it). It was pretty sweet. Then we walked down the "River Walk." Nate and I loved this area. There's a river that runs through downtown and it's set below street level. There's cafes and restaurants lined along the banks. There's beautiful bridges and winding sidewalks lined with vines, flowers, and plants. It's the most beautiful part of the whole city. We spent a good few hours there just walking and eating. There's "river taxis" that run up and down the river giving guided tours, but we didn't do that route.
We walked over to Market Square to check out the local Tex/Mex flavor. We ate a churro while watching a traditional "Day of the Dead" dance and presentation. We like to experience different cultures so this was quite the sight. We then drove to the San Antonio temple and let Keilah walk around and touch the water in the fountain (her highlight of the day). Temples are so beautiful and peaceful no matter where you are!
We then got to hang out with our friends the Collettes. Nate and Derek lived in the dorms freshman year at BYU and have been friends ever since. We are so grateful for their hospitality and friendship. Keilah and their daughter, Ava, had a blast playing together. We ate dinner at BJ's and then watched Texas cream Missouri in football. We left the next morning after a yummy breakfast and made it back to Dallas in safety and peace (Keilah took the best nap!). We had so much fun with our friends, fish, and food!
