NCAA Indoor Nationals

Cheering on Uncle Leif before he competes
Texas A&M's new indoor track stadium.  Beautiful!
Chilling before the competition
We bought Keilah a cute rain outfit last weekend.  She loves her umbrella!
Leif, Keilah, and Nate in College Station, Texas

This past weekend we traveled down to College Station, Texas (about 3 1/2 hours away) to see my little brother, Leif, compete in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.  Wow, that's a mouthful!  It was raining this entire weekend and was extremely cold for this time of year.  We stayed over Friday night with Chad Tolman and his family in a small town called Brenham, Texas.  Nate and Chad went to elementary school together and hadn't seen each other in 10 years so they had a nice time playing catch-up.  Brenham is about as big of a small town as you get.  I'd probably compare it to Springville, circa 1990.  For fun, everyone in Brenham goes fishing or hunting.  What do they hunt?  Wild hogs.  Apparently everyone in the branch goes wild hog hunting and then they'll barbecue it the next night and invite the whole branch over to eat.  I think I'll stick with being a city slicker!
Saturday we drove up to College Station and spent time with Leif before he competed.  I actually like College Station. Everything there is Texas A&M and I mean everything!  We had breakfast with Leif and then hung out with him at the track before he competed in the evening. Keilah is so smitten with all of her uncles and had a blast playing around with Leif.  She even cried when he had to get into a different car.  It was awesome to see Leif compete with the nation's collegiate best.  You feel so inadequate sometimes watching people who excel at something like that!  I've always been so proud of all 3 of my brothers and their achievements in life and seeing Leif compete was quite an experience.  He didn't do all that well, but we are so proud of him and wish him the best of luck in the upcoming outdoor season and hope he comes out to visit us soon (wink, wink to my other family members and friends too!).
